HISTORY OF JAIPUR
Jaipur (Earlier Known as Jeypore) or former Dhundhar state is named after its founder Maharaja Jai Singh II (1693-1743), who came to power at the age of 12 founded and ruled Jaipur form 1727. Even though 28 kings ruled for six centuries at Amber, today Jaipur is much better known where only ten Maharajas have sat on the throne over the last two hundred and fifty years -- and the eleventh east while ruler now leads the Kachhawahas. This has as much to do with the grand vision of Sawai Jai Singh II who founded Jaipur as with the British who began the custom of calling the states by the names of their capitals.
The Kings Who ruled Jaipur after Sawai Jai Singh II were:
Jai Singh II (Founded Jaipur) 1727-1793
Ishwari Singh. 1743-1750
Madao Singh I 1751-1768
Prithvi Singh 1768-1778
Pratap Singh 1778-1803
Jagat Singh 1803-1819
Jai Singh III 1820-1835
Ram Singh II 1835-1880
Madao Singh II 1880-1922
Man Singh II 1922-1949
Brigadier Bhawani Singh. 1970-
The picturesque capital of Rajasthan, Jaipur is colour washed Pink – the colour associated with hospitality in Rajput culture. Built in 1727 A.D by Maharaja Sawai Jai Singh – II, Jaipur displays a remarkable harmony and architectural splendour. The Ancient heart of the Pink City still beats in its fairy – tale palaces. Rugged fortresses perched on barren hills and broad avenues that dot the entire city. The only planned city of its time, Jaipur is encircled by a formidable wall.
A young Bengali (from West Bengal) architect, Vidyadhar Bhattacharya formalized the city’s plans in a grid system. The wide straight avenues, roads, street lanes and uniform rows of shops on either side of main bazaars were arranged in nine rectangular “city sectors” (Chokris) in accordance with the principles of town planning set down in the “Shilpa Shastra” (book on architecture) an epochal treatise on the Hindu architecture.
There is a time less appeal to Jaipur’s colorful bazaars where one can shop for Rajasthani momentos. Marvelous forts & palaces, once the residence of Maharajas are worth admiration. Not to mention the ambling camels and cheerful people in multi- hued costumes that makes your trip to the pink city a memorable one !!!
INCREDIBLE INDIA !

Most importantly , as a single ,female traveler, I would like to specifically recommend Hotel Pearl Palace to other females . The owner, Mr. Singh, is a reputable and honest man who treats visitors as his personal guests, rather than just a tourist dollar. This is a friendly and safe haven where you will be treated very well.

One MUST both experience and see Hotel Pearl Palace. It’s the best hotel in India – service is great, rooms are spotlessly clean and huge, the food is wonderful and diverse, hot water all the time, clean towels, nice and relaxed atmosphere, kind staff. And why is a Hotel Pearl Palace a must see? Well, because it is a small masterpiece. This masterpiece was created and designed by Mr Singh, the proprietor. The interior décor is superb, full of local arts & crafts and other interesting details. The most interesting place in the hotel has to be the fantastic rooftop terrace. Every sculpted iron table and every sculpted iron chair is a masterpiece itself. You can choose whether you’ll take a lunch eating on an “elephant table” or you’ll take a dinner sitting on a “funny face” chair. Terracotta bas-reliefs on the walls, sculptures, wood carvings all around you. Of course, not to forget to mention – the flowers and plants. Finally, a place where plants and flowers are well taken care of, watered regularly etc. You will find beautiful flowers all around you – on the terrace, in the rooms, in front of the hotel, behind the hotel, in the reception room – it’s so wonderful and relaxing.
The guests can feel very safe here. The proprietor, Mr Singh is a fantastic person who will take care of all your problems. He sure resolved all of our problems.
After long day of sightseeing and lots of shopping we could hardly wait to go back to Hotel Pearl Palace – to our home, as we used to call it.

Hotel Pearl Palace in Jaipur, India, is said to be treasuring it’s guests. I’ve experienced that these are not only words. In a moment of weakness I was badly lured by “a guru”. Thanks to the great help of Mr. S.P.Singh, I was able to get my money back. He’s a hotelowner how a hotelowner has supposed to be. A man out of thousands with a big heart for his guests and his hotel! You can feel this in everything. From the nice service, the beautiful rooms to the tasty food. Recommendable for everyone!

I have no words to describe how pleasant staying at Pearl Palace Hotel, Jaipur has been. This is my third visit to India and had never before encountered such a comfortable, immaculate place at such reasonable rates. Mr. Satinder Singh, the owner cares for every traveler making you feel extremely welcome. Pearl Palace Hotel is not just another Hotel, but it is one of the most amazing buildings housing tasteful decoration, most of it in the purest Rajhistani style, all designed by Mr. Singh, who is himself a most interesting person as well as an artist, not to mention his honesty and integrity typical of Sikh people.
I highly recommend Pearl Palace Hotel to any traveler whatever budget they travel on. It is definitely the best place I have stayed in and I am already looking forwards to the next time.

L'atmosefra e' famigliare e cordiale.
ASSOLUTAMENTE DA NON PERDERE!
